Ehson Hashemian is a singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist from Southern California whose music blends heartfelt storytelling with a deep sense of artistic evolution. From an early age, Ehson found his voice through song, beginning as a vocalist in adolescence and quickly honing his skills as a songwriter and instrumentalist.
His early career included a pivotal role in the band The Jakes—now known as Young the Giant—where he contributed as a keyboardist and co-writer. One of the highlights from that time is the hit single “Cough Syrup,” which Ehson co-wrote. The track has since become a landmark song, certified double platinum in the U.S., peaking at #3 on the Billboard Alternative Songs chart. It gained further popularity through its inclusion in the Fright Night film remake and cover performances on Glee and The Voice. His work has also appeared on television shows such as MTV’s The Real World: Brooklyn and A&E’s The Beast.
In 2009, Ehson left the band to pursue his solo project Backwards Forwards, releasing the EP You Are Here in 2012 and the full-length album Still Life in 2014. These early solo works showcased a more introspective and experimental side of his artistry.
Now releasing music under his own name, Ehson Hashemian has entered a prolific new phase of his career. In 2023, he released Animation, followed by Face Shine in 2024, and Bliss in January 2025.
His fourth solo album, Believe, is OUT NOW! With a steady stream of new material in the works, Ehson continues to evolve as an artist, delivering music that is both deeply personal and universally resonant.
Whether you're a longtime fan or a new listener, Ehson Hashemian’s journey is one worth following—rooted in passion, rich with experience, and always looking forward.
