Spotify Podcasts For Artists: Make Yours Awesome

Please Note: Octiive does not distribute to Spotify podcasts. This post is meant more to provide value to artists looking to utilize podcasts for marketing.

Spotify podcasts have never been more popular. But you know that already, because just like pretty much everybody else, you’ve got a couple favorite Spotify podcasts, too, amirite?

Right. But how huge are Spotify podcasts right now, even? 400% bigger from 2017 to 2018, with 20% of all Spotify listening expected to be podcasts very soon. So like, not just the best Spotify podcasts, but all Spotify podcast listening is going on four-times more than the year before, about.

So that’s really cool for Spotify and all, but what are we doing just listening? We could be hosting our own Spotify podcasts! Let’s look at how to do that.

Why Should You Use Spotify Podcasts for Marketing?

Well, for one thing, it has more than 200 million active users each month now. Which is a lot.
And for another, they claim to be the 2nd-biggest podcast streamer behind Apple and have just closed the biggest deal in the history of podcasts. That means they’re going to be exploding in the podcast game.

In other words, we can expect the best podcasts on Spotify to be some of the most popular podcasts in the world very soon, here. That means we have good reasons to want to be among the best Spotify podcasts, ourselves. Because we’re smart like that.

Oh, but also, it’s a really big mistake to only get your podcast on Apple. Most people don’t use Apple phones. Did you know that? Yup. 85% of smartphone users in the world pick Android. In the United States alone, 62% are using Android.

So if you’ve got a podcast and have only got your casts uploaded to Apple, then more than half the people who might want to listen to you, can’t. Spotify podcasts are super important if you want to get anywhere because that’s pretty much where all those Android users are getting what they listen to.

But we also want to be among the best podcasts on Spotify just because they’re really fun to listen to, and even more fun to make.

What if you don’t have a show ready to be a Spotify podcast yet, though? What kind of cast makes the list of best podcasts? We can help you there, too. Read on!

What Are the Best Podcasts on Spotify?

We want our podcast to be in the best Spotify podcasts, obvs, so we wanna look at lists of the most popular ones.

This list has a hugely popular music cast from NPR, an EDM one DJ Magazine calls “the biggest production collective the UK has ever produced,” and the famous Dirty South Presents: Phazing Radio podcast.

This one mentions Popcast for pop-music lovers, a cast by Rick Rubin! (Def-Jam Records, anyone?), and Questlove Supreme, where famous DJ and player Questlove talks to everyone from Randy Jackson to Chris Rock.

This third list shouts out What’s Good with Stretch and Bobbito (NYC hip-hop legends DJ Stretch Armstrong & Bobbito Garcia), Dissect, which is all about the most genius albums of all time, and there’s also Cocaine & Rhinestones for country music fans.

So basically what we’re saying is that you can make your Spotify podcast about pretty much anything in the music world, and there are millions of people out there who might want to hear you. So go make a podcast and get it on Spotify.
